Hi, How Can We Help You?

Beware of digital scams bearing celebrity gifts!

Digital fraudsters have always been quick to jump on current trends to power through their next scam and it seems as though the enormous publicity celebrities like Paris Hilton, Floyd Mayweather and Jamie Foxx have received on the back of their cryptocurrency trading is their latest inspiration.

This week ActionFraud, the UK’s national fraud and cybercrime reporting centre, has issued a warning about the growing threat posed by criminals promoting their scams under the names of well-known TV personalities including Dragon’s Den’s Deborah Meaden and money saving expert Martin Lewis.  In March alone, ActionFraud said they were made aware of 21 such cons which in total defrauded victims of more than £34,000.

The criminals set up fraudulent websites that claim to provide safe platforms for trading cryptocurrency and attempt to establish their legitimacy by adding pictures of and quotes from the celebrities.  They then post links to the sites across social media that include the celebrity endorsements to persuade them to click through to a page that has more quotes from the personalities and an invitation to join the investor community by entering your contact and payment details.

There is of course no real trading or investment opportunity and all victims have done is provide all of the details the criminals need to defraud them.

If you have fallen victim to this or any other Bitcoin, cryptocurrency or digital fraud and want to find out what you need to do to recover the money you’ve lost, call us today on 020 7792 5649 or email us at info@selachii.com
